Today I spent most of my day at North High School presenting my platform, Speak Up and Reach Out: Ending the Cycle of Domestic Abuse. I presented to six Health Education classes that were at the end of their sex education unit. We had a wonderful class discussion about what a healthy relationship looks like and how to break negative stigmas our society has about victims of domestic abuse.
I am a North High School graduate so this was an extra special appearance for me. Also, given that a student from North was murdered less than a week ago now was a very important time for me to come share my story and message.
My presentation was once again very well received. I am just so impressed with how attentive all students get when I start sharing my story. Overall, it was a very productive day. I love every opportunity I get to share my message and I am glad I was able to speak to more teenagers during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. A very special thank you to Chelon Danielson and Mark Woodcock for having me as a guest speaker in your health classes.
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
