Two years ago I represented Minnesota in the Miss National Sweetheart Pageant. All of us contestants were randomly placed with roommates and mine happened to be the beautiful Cat Taylor from Kansas. We hit it off right away and would stay up late at night bonding. I remember her talking about Jim, her boyfriend at that time, and Cat telling me that she knew she was going to marry him one day. It was exciting for me to find out that Jim was from Minnesota! By the end of the week we had become great friends and were sad to go home and be states away from each other; but every Christmas since Sweetheart we have gotten together for a catch up date while she visited Jim’s family up here in MN.
This past weekend was Cat and Jim’s wedding and I wouldn’t have missed it for anything! I brought my best friend Mary Petersen as my date and the two of us made the 18 hour drive to Kansas and back. I was beyond honored to have been invited; it really made me feel like our friendship means a lot to Cat.
Cat was a stunning bride. Only a pageant girl would have been able to select such a beautiful gown like she had. Their wedding was outdoors and the weather was perfect. It was marvelous to spend time with my dear friend Cat again and on such a special day.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Morsberger! I couldn’t be happier for the two of you! You both are the kindest and most caring people I know and I am excited for your lives together. I had such a wonderful time at your wedding; it was great to see both of you and your families again!! Thank you again for inviting me to be a part of your special day.
Lastly, a HUGE thank you to my grandma Mary for letting us drive her new car to get to Kansas and back safely! You are such a selfless and sweet woman to let us add 1,300 miles on your odometer. I love you grandma!!
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
