Today was the Centerville Parade. Since we all have Olympics fever; we decided to decorate our float and dress like Olympians. We each represented an event. I carried my dad’s bow (no arrows) and represented the archery athletes. Our float took first place in the parade and we even got a trophy!

Yesterday was Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day. On Miracle Treat Day when you buy a Blizzard from Dairy Queen a dollar of your purchase is given back to our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital; our CMN Hospital is Gillette. I was extremely honored to help serve DQ Blizzards to all of the patients and their families at Gillette. We had quiet the important group of people delivering those delicious treats including the CEO of Dairy Queen, John Gainor.
After my visit to Gillette I went to the Riverdale Dairy Queen in Coon Rapids. All of my Junior Royalty sisters came to help promote Miracle Treat Day with me. It was wonderful to see all of the families come out and support such an amazing cause and have a delicious time doing so. Until next time, Samantha Phillippi Last night I attended the Timberwolves Selection Show, which was the last chance the girls had to give it all they had to make the Timberwolves Dance Team. It was such an amazing show with the light work put into it and the choreography the girls performed. The nine Twolves Dance Team veterans that auditioned again made the team and three rookies made the team a perfect twelve. A special Congrats to vet Lizzi and rookie Madi! It was fun to see the friends I auditioned with again and it was wonderful to make new connections with others. I really wanted to be up on that stage; hopefully next year will be my time to shine.
Until next time, Samantha Phillippi I had a marvelous time at the East Bethel Parade today! There were so many hilarious moments it’s hard to pick just a couple highlights but here are parts of my day that really left an impression. First, I did not know that in East Bethel they have chickens that just wonder around. My Junior Royalty sisters and I had a blast chasing them around before the parade started. Once the cars started moving forward for the parade we didn’t see this low branched tree until our float was stuck in it. The best part about getting your float stuck in a tree is that you get to meet Freddy Krueger’s sweet side. All of the little ones were scared of him until he came over offering to help us. After he had been so sweet all of the girls wanted their picture with him, so once the parade was done we met up with him and had a little photo shoot. It has been a great day full of many surprises.
Until next time, Samantha Phillippi Many of you who follow me know that I auditioned for the Timberwolves Dance Team last night. I attended two Timberwolves Dance Team Prep Classes before auditioning to try and prepare me for what may be in store at auditions. The whole auditioning process was very intense. The amazing Trey Barber choreographed the dance we auditioned with and it was one of the coolest hip hop dances I have ever seen. I made it through first cuts but sadly did not make the cut to go to finals. I am proud of how I performed, especially since I have never taken hip hop class in my life! This whole experience has been so amazing and I have never been pushed so far physically. It has also been great meeting more women that share some of my same passions in life, and also learning how small the arts world really is. I can’t wait to attend finals night and see which lucky girls will make the official Timberwolves Dance Team.
Until next time, Samantha Phillippi Last night I drove the long drive up to Detroit Lakes to attend the Miss Northwest Pageant. It was great to see our Miss Minnesota, Siri Freeh, on her hometown stage. Congratulations to Rebecca Yeh, who was crowned Miss Northwest.
Until next time, Samantha Phillippi Last night I was a part of the Coon Rapids 4th of July Festival. This festival is a five day long event full of carnival rides, food, and games. Yesterday was the parade and Splatter Sister concert. Even with the 104 degree evening there was a great turn out (even Amy Klobuchar was there) and everyone seemed to have such a great time. I was excited to see my Junior Royalty little sisters and we all had a wonderful time on our float and at our reception after the parade.
Until next time, Samantha Phillippi Last night was the Miss Brainerd Lakes and Miss Baxter Pageant and it was also the first Miss Minnesota Class of 2012 reunion! Before the pageant began there were many hugs and lots of catching up between all of us title holders. There were 14 girls competing in the pageant and they all brought a lot of personality to the stage. Haley and Rebecca both represented their organization well over the past year and I really enjoyed getting to know both of them during Miss Minnesota week. Congratulations to Heather Erickson who was crowned Miss Brainerd Lakes and Maren Goff who was crowned Miss Baxter. I know you both will do great things during your reigning year and it was fun seeing both of you at your first
appearance today at Arts in the Park. Samantha Phillippi |
