Tonight was the first time not being a title holder has really hit me. It was the Eagle Point Elementary School’s Jump Rope for Heart event and I played the role of a chaperone instead of a titleholder. Awhile back I arranged for Miss Minneapolis and Miss St. Paul to make an appearance and volunteer for this energetic event.
Before the Jump Rope for Heart event I had Rachel Latuff, Miss St. Paul, come visit the EBD classroom where I work. She read an old Ojibwa story to the kids and they all made an art project we have hung in our classroom.
The students enjoyed visiting with both girls and really loved getting their pictures and autographs. Although it was a very different role, I really enjoyed taking pictures of the girls and making sure they were well taken care of.
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
