Saturday was Miss Minnesota workshop! At workshop all of us local title holders turn in all of our paperwork, learn about Miss Minnesota week and get to know each other better. It was wonderful to finally meet some of the contestants that I haven’t had the pleasure to meet until yesterday. We also get our contestant order and our roommate assignments. I am excited to announce that my roommate this year is Maren Goff, Miss Baxter. I picked contestant #7 which means on the first night of prelims I will compete in on-stage question and talent. On prelim night two I will compete in swimsuit and evening gown.
After workshop was the Miss Minnesota Outstanding Teen pageant. All of the teen title holders looked marvelous onstage. I am so incredibly impressed by how articulate and poised these teenagers are. Congratulations to Corrina Swiggum our new Miss Minnesota Outstanding Teen! You rocked that stage! I am proud of you and know that you are going to be an amazing representative for our state.
Today, my sister queen, Courtney, and I went to Gillette to do crafts with the kids. This was an extra special visit because when I volunteer there each week I never wear my crown and sash but today I did. We all know the saying “April showers bring May flowers” but we sometimes forget that those showers bring beautiful rainbows too! So, I brought mosaic rainbows for us to make with the kiddos. The rainbows were made out of tissue paper so they could hang on the widows in their rooms and see the light through them. It was a wonderful day and an overall great weekend.
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
