Last night I attended the 1st Annual night to honor the memory of Tracie Joy McBride. In 1995, Tracie’s life was tragically taken from her at the young age of 19. Tracie left a legacy of serving others, blessing everyone she met. In 2007, the Tracie Joy McBride Scholarship Fund was founded in Tracie’s honor to recognize young women across Minnesota who showcase a strong commitment to service, living a life of character, and displaying extraordinary talent. The Tracie Joy McBride Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to the winners of the Tracie Joy McBride Quality of Life Award and Tracie Joy McBride Talent Award at Miss Minnesota each year .
Tracie’s Night was a fundraising event for the Tracie Joy McBride Scholarship Fund. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, bid on silent auction baskets, and heard from past Quality of Life winners. It was an inspirational evening with performances by Kathryn Karg, Miss Minnesota 2010, and Siri Freeh, our current Miss Minnesota. I find it so motivating that the McBride family is using this tragic experience to create such a positive change in many young women’s lives; which is exactly what I am trying to do with my sister’s experience.
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
