Tonight was the 30th anniversary of National Night Out. I celebrated by attending the Laurel Village National Night Out Tent in Downtown Minneapolis. There was a great turn out at this neighborhood’s block party and everyone seemed to be having a great time eating, playing games, winning prizes, and getting to know people they live by.
The purpose of National Night Out is to bring people in the community together while at the same time building relationships with the police officers that protect each neighborhood. This in turn creates a safer living environment for everyone.
We were all having such a great time until the rain suddenly came pouring down and ended our celebration early. I have never seen a party end so fast than when the rain started; people cleared out immediately. Good thing I brought an umbrella! I made it home still pretty dry and just in time to snap the pictures below of the storm rolling into Minneapolis.
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
