This past weekend was the Miss Minnesota Pageant with the Crowns and Gowns Gala on Friday night. My boss at Mall Of America, Doug Killian, supports this scholarship system and offered to pay for my parents and me to attend the gala at the Radisson Blu. We had a great time and since Doug was to receive an award we had the best seats (and table) in the place. Sitting at our table was Miss Minnesota 1989, Lynne Schacher, as well as a couple of the Miss America Junkies! I have to admit it was a lot of fun just enjoying myself without the thought of competing the next day on my mind and our table had a blast joking about my 2nd runner up consistency over the past four years.
Saturday night was the final night of competition and crowning of Miss Minnesota 2014. Again I have to say it was fun to just enjoy myself without the stress of competing and it was really cool to actually watch the production of the Miss Minnesota Pageant. Congratulations to Savannah Cole on being crowned Miss Minnesota 2014, and for also being a preliminary talent, swimsuit, and interview winner.
During intermission of the pageant I was approached by a couple different people who said they were excited to find out who would be awarded the title of 2nd runner this year since I wasn’t there to receive it another year. One man even said “who cares who wins Miss Minnesota, I want to know who the new second runner up will be!” I have to give a special congratulations to Kate Wilson (Miss Rochester) on taking over the second runner up title! I know it may not be the title you were hoping to walk away with but know that you were absolutely fabulous to make top three!
Until next time,
