What a beautiful weekend we were so fortunate to have! I hope everyone was able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. I spent my Saturday promoting one of my 5 Fabulous Family Fitness Activities- Fitness for a Cause, at two great events.
I started my day at the second annual FANA 5k. FANA raises money for orphanages in Columbia. Our family friend adopted two boys from Columbia; they work very hard to help their boys stay connected to their Columbian heritage. This is a great organization that has improved so many children’s lives and I am happy to have been a part of their 5k fund raiser two years in a row. To find out more about FANA you can visit their website at http://www.familiesoffana.org/.
After the FANA 5k, I was off to the first annual Miss Coon Rapids Bean Bag Tournament. This is an event created by Dustin Betow. He made this tournament to help raise funds for the scholarships given through the Miss Coon Rapids Organization. We had such a great turn out that the event started at 11am and went until 6pm. Miss Minnesota’s Outstanding Teen, Baily Wachholz, came to support our fundraiser and learned how to play bean bags with her mom. Thank you so much Baily for coming, I had a wonderful time visiting with you and your mom. My junior royalty little sister, Natalie Berg, came out to cheer on her mom who was in the tournament. Everyone seemed to have had a great time enjoying the outdoors and staying active. Cash prizes were given to the final three teams and there was also a 50/50 raffle as well as a raffle to win the bean bag boards. James Lockwood won the 50/50 raffle and donated his winnings back to the MCR Organization. Jeff Betow and Randy Zemke won first place and donated their winning cash prize towards my pageant costs. I am so blessed to have such a great group of people care so much about me and helping my dreams come true! This event was a huge success and I look forward to attending it again next year. Thank you to everyone who attended the tournament and I hope to see you all back next year!
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
