The morning after being crowned Miss Coon Rapids was the waffle breakfast hosted at the Coon Rapids VFW. Even though I had little sleep the night before from all of the excitement and late night after party, I was still able to be chipper at 8 in the morning. I had a great time working my way up the service ladder by starting my morning serving coffee while socializing with community members and ending the day making two waffles at a time (one hand for each machine). I guess you could say I turned out to be a waffle making expert; maybe there is a future career in there somewhere? I made waffles for many hours and even got to take a break and eat some myself. Coming from a family that the only waffles we ever ate were the Ego waffles you pop down in a toaster I had no idea how delicious a waffle could actually be!
It turned out to be a wonderful day and I had an amazing time getting to know my princess and queen sisters of the Coon Rapids Junior Royalty. They did a great job cleaning tables and serving waffle toppings. I can’t wait to see all of them at more appearances.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and came to eat some delicious waffles. And a special thank you to my mom, dad, grandma and grandpa for coming to eat breakfast with me and take pictures!
Sincerely,
Samantha Phillippi
