Today I spent my day serving others. I started my day early at KSTP to support Jennifer, Anna Hurd’s mother, while she was live on the news. It means the world to me that she trusts me and finds my presence uplifting. She did such a wonderful job and I admire her courage very much.
I left the news station and drove straight to the Shoreview Community Center for the North Suburban Women’s Expo. At the expo I was representing Tubman with Anna. We created a lot of awareness in this community and gave out many resources. It was wonderful to catch up with some of the vendors I met last year and great getting to know new vendors.
After the expo it was home for a quick change then off to Minneapolis where I volunteered at Tubman’s Starlight Soiree. The Starlight Soiree is formal event with a dinner, silent auction, and live music. When the guests arrived they first saw a long table covered in candles that represented the woman and families Tubman serves throughout the year. This was a very powerful message and looking at all of the people committed to this cause gave me such hope for our future.
Until next time,
Samantha Phillippi
